Personally, if you replace the board you need to get rid of W2K. New mobo,
new chipset means it's very likely you won't find any support for an OS
that old. Oh yeah, on board sound is ok by me. I did a comparison several
months ago with a SB Live card and it wasn't any better than Realtech on
board sound to my old ears. I just got rid of 3 copies of Windows XP and
I'm done with anything older than Vista which should be supported with one
more service pack and until Windows 8 when it arrives 2-3 years from now.
No offense Sam, but there seems little point in using W2K and everything
going to 64 bit as well.

My existing Asus mobo has quit the sound. an A8N-VM.
I tried an Asus Zonar DX pci exp. sound card.
I contacted Asus and they told me there is no driver that will work on
W2K.The sales literature did not mention this.
Expensive but the drivers mess up my W2K OS so I need another solution.
Is there another card that will work with W2K?
2; If I get a new mobo with sound like the Asus M4A785TD-V EVO can I
plug my HD with W2K OS into it and boot up.
Or will I have to do a complete fresh install?
I really do not want to leave my W2K.
