Back in the CRT days the two reason were that a TV could not support monitor resolutions, and more importantly, CRTs were designed for moving images, while a monitor was designed to hold a crystal clear static image for a long period at a time.
I am not sure if that is still true but I would not try this with a Plasma because of the potential for burn in, and you won't find the high resolutions in LCD TVs that you do in big monitors. For example, my 30 inch monitor runs native at 2560 X 1600 and supports HD at 1600p ... resolutions I don't think any LCD TV will match.

Need to replace a monitor and found a deal on a LG LG 32LD350 (720p TV). I have a GTX460 card. Any reason not to use this TV for a monitor?? ~Gary
