4GB DDR2 Dimms have always been expensive. It is a small market
because not too many boards can handle them. I watched for PC800 4GB
DDR2 Dimms for years waiting for them to come down from a starting
point of around 170 bucks. I was running 2X4GB = 8GB DDR2 800.
In the last 12 months they starting coming down until they were
around 100 plus, or minus 10 dollars each. Pretty steep when you can
buy 16BG of DDR3 for as little as 100 to 150 bucks on special deals.
But then a few months ago I saw a Newegg weekend sale that had
Patriot 4GB PC800 DDR2 DIMMS for 54.50 and I pulled the trigger. Sold
my 2GB x4 DIMMS on Ebay for 110 bucks so it ended up costing me
around 125 out of pocket and I am happy with the result. Used ones
will always be in demand and I don't think you will ever see them on
Ebay at a cheaper price point the 55 bucks.
I was wondering if I would even notice a difference and I can tell
you that my experience has been very positive, particularly when
video editing. I am running a 6GB RAM drive as my Temp folder and to
drop HD video files into, to edit from, and I still have 10GB of RAM
left. This is my primary machine and I get a lot of use out of it,
but I don't know if it is worth the hassle and expense for a secondary PC.

Thanks for checking, Zul. I have the exact same sticks, 4 2GB
ones. I need 4 4GB ones, though. Oh well....I guess this machine
is dead in terms of memory expansion though I keep adding HDs to it.

I guess no one is using this stuff anymore so the sticks are
scarce...too bad...I wanted to max out the ram on my p35 rig.
