Are there any errors in the System log? Has this always happened on this
build? Did you install all the drivers (including the Intel motherboard
drivers) when you built the system? Any devices in Device Manager with
errors?
This sounds like either a hardware fault such as a dying SATA cable, or
a missing / incorrect driver for a device.

I tried Unstoppable Copier and it seems to be doing the job but pauses for
about 12 secs between each file. I am guessing it is getting the error and
working through it. At least I don't have to click retry for each directory.
I really want to work out the issue though. I lived with it for too long and
now it is just bugging me :-(

Unfortunately not, this was a fresh build and install. All drives were new
in the build so no residue from a previous install.

If the files are from pre-w7, it might be a ownership issue.

Thanks, I'll give it a try. I really would like to know what is causing
this
issue though. It is very annoying and I hate not knowing why LOL

Subject: [H] Problem copying/moving files/folders
HI,
I have had an issue ever since I built my latest PC (6 months ago).
Its
running Win7 Ultimate 64bit fully patched.
Every time I try to move or copy a file I get the error:
"Could not find this item
This is no longer located in c:\path_filname. Verify the item's
location
and
try again"
I hit try again and it will copy\move the file!!!
This happens on all my drives whether internal or external so I am
assuming
it is not a drive or controller issue but I really have no idea how to
start
diagnosing the issue.
Any help would be greatly appreciated
The system is:
Asus Maximus IV Extreme Rev 3
I7-2600k running stock at 3.4Ghz
Zalman S64GB (Boot drive)
WD WD640 SATA
a couple of WD My book USB2.0 drives
EVGA GTX 580
Coolermaster Silent Pro 1KW PSU
Liteon SATA Blu-ray R/W
Many thanks,
Gary
