Nothing in any error logs that I can see.
It has always happened.
All updated drivers were installed including the intel motherboard drivers.
No Device manager errors.
No Smart errors.

This happens even if I copy between my two USB external drives so I don't
think it is hardware related. I think something in windows is screwed up but
I can't think what that might be.

One thing I haven't done is checked for up to date drivers recently so at
the weekend I may update all drivers and the BIOS just in case.
