Thanks Tim. Yes it's the 680i chipset. The board has been solid for the
past five years with a flash upgrade about a year ago. In fact the whole
build has been solid, kudos to list member Chris who built it for me. I
just ordered the 2 x 1GB Corsair sticks. I'm going for the minimum
investment at this point as I expect to have a new 64-bit system by this
time next year.

If I remember correctly the motherboard was a 680i chipset board. I used
the Asus P5NT Deluxe for like 5 years, 3 years running Windows in 64-bit
with no issues. Mind you that the CPU was a Intel Core 2 Extreme x6800.
The motherboard you have will run Windows 7 64 bit with no problems. The
CPU
might be the issue. Also, I also had the RAM out the 8GB as well on
Windows
7 Ultimate 64-bit. It ran smooth.
Hat surprised me was that when I upgraded to an Asus P8Z68-V with a
i7-2600k
and I was not really impressed with the speed increase. I guess it was not
really time to upgrade yet :) I now upgraded the RAM to 16GB and it kicks
ass in and out of Games.
Good luck on your memory upgrade.

That's what I was thinking, the 2 x 2GB for $48. Guess I'm paying for
old technology now. Probably my last upgrade to this box.
I am running a lot of audio programs and there are still some bugs with
the 64-bit versions especially regarding compatibility with DAWs,
interfaces and plug-ins. As time passes these compatibility issues are
being resolved through updates. If I can hang on another year or so
before going to 64-bit, I hope to avoid the numerous crashes and lock-
ups that others are experiencing.
Thanks for the help!
