I haven't used the new one but I have a pink pogoplug and one of the seagate
ones. They are slow as molasses for large data transfers but do work OK for
smaller files. As media servers they run great as long as you transcode to
mp4/m4v BEFORE you copy movies to the device. If you have the pogoplug do the
trancoding, it will become almost unusable until transcode finishes which could
take hours to a day or more.

I'm planning on doing the hacked software http://archlinuxarm.org/ this
weekend
on one of them just to test it out.

Subject: [H] Pogoplug Series 4

Anyone know about this device? Seems like a cool way to have your own online
storage without using anyone else's hardware (other than internet connections).
I have fast up/down links at work, so I could put one of these there and have
complete control over why share. It sounds like a cool thing. They are selling
it to people who use the cloud for $60, while online it costs $100.
