I just did a bunch of research on this myself, and ended up going for the Denon AVR-2112ci. Aside from the standard complement of features (7.2, lots of inputs, HDMI 1.4, etc.) I wanted something that could get FW updates over the internet, and had Audyssey MutliEQ XT. Pioneer receivers seem to have a lot of early failures, Yamaha has their own automatic speaker calibration (YPAO) that usually isn't compared as favorably, and I wanted to stay away from Onkyo after reading a number of reports (and having issues with my existing older unit) with audio dropouts with some sources--including Dish Network STBs.
I'm mating it with Polk centers, fronts, and surrounds and a BIC F12 subwoofer. Don't have it hooked up yet, but I'm certainly excited to get it all integrated... Just my 2 cents. > -----Original Message----- > From: [email protected] [mailto:hardware- > [email protected]] On Behalf Of Bino Gopal > Sent: Thursday, December 22, 2011 1:35 PM > To: [email protected] > Subject: [H] Calling the HT buffs: Thoughts on Onkyo TX-SR876B? > > > Friend wants to get rid of it for like $400...worth it? $1800 list on Amazon, > you can get it for $1400 now; back from late 2008/early 2009: > http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-TX-SR876-Channel-Theater- > Receiver/dp/B001AMSPDG/ It doesn't have HDMI 1.4 (it's 1.3a) but I don't > have a TV that does 3D and not worried about getting that yet...it does have > a HQV Reon-VX (which I'd been drooling over for years) but I don't know > what I have that isn't HDMI and outputting at 1080p already-so isn't the Reon > redundant now?!
