That's a lot of receiver for just $400....do you need more than 4 HDMIs? Will you? The networking features, IMO, aren't so important if you have a HTPC (do/will you?)....the newer receivers typically have 7 HDMI inputs and are very close to $400...but they aren't in the same class as this one in terms of WPC. Do you need that many WPC? ARe you an audiophile? Personally, I'd never spend $2000 on a receiver, but then I'm a low-end type of guy as far as audio goes. Different strokes.

Friend wants to get rid of it for like $400...worth it? $1800 list on Amazon,
you can get it for $1400 now; back from late 2008/early 2009:
http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-TX-SR876-Channel-Theater-Receiver/dp/B001AMSPDG/ It
doesn't have HDMI 1.4 (it's 1.3a) but I don't have a TV that does 3D and not
worried about getting that yet...it does have a HQV Reon-VX (which I'd been
drooling over for years) but I don't know what I have that isn't HDMI and
outputting at 1080p already-so isn't the Reon redundant now?! One problem is
that my friend had a couple Onkyo receivers going back a few years and he said
they all had quality issues-he already had this one taken in and repaired (he
says it's fine now, but I do see people complaining on Amazon) but he got a
Denon instead and is looking to sell this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Denon-AVR-4311CI-Channel-Multi-Room-Receiver/dp/B0042KVX2S/
My problem is I want the latest internet integrations and all that, and
didn't want to spend that much on a new receiver...I was just thinking of
getting this one:
http://www.amazon.com/Onkyo-HT-RC370-7-2-Channel-Certified-Receiver/dp/B004UR4870/ref=dp_ob_title_ce
which admittedly costs more than what my friend wants but it is HDMI 1.4 and
has a lot of the later internet stuff, which I def want, and might need. It's
almost worth it at $400 just for a second receiver, but I've already been
behind the tech curve and a lot has changed in the last 2 years...I also mainly
want something I can upgrade to keep it up-to-date too, and maybe I do want to
go Denon if it's more reliable-oh and apparently Denon support Airplay and
Onkyo doesn't, which could worth considering since I have an iPhone and iPad
too...and they do DLNA 1.5 which I def want too...
Anyway, figured I'd ping the HT buffs here for thoughts in case anyone had done
this math already or bought any of these/looked at receivers lately, etc.
Thanks guys! BINO
