I am using an Intel 64GB SSD with Win7Pro and I have more then enough
space. I have been running my SSD for a couple of years and I am at
52 GB but that is with a 16GB swap. I should reduce the swap, I have
16GB of RAM which is why windows makes it that big. But I still have
plenty of space.
I suppose if you were installing lots of 5GB games you would need
more space. I keep all my data in on a Raptor and my Media on other
large drives. I don't see any reason to put downloads or drivers on a
SSD when you are rarely going to use them. I use encrypted drives
for my Data and at first I had them on the SSD but frankly, now that
they are on the Raptor, I don't notice any difference, and it makes
my weekly imaging a lot easier to manage.

Crucial m4 or Samsung 830. Consider Intel 520 if you can justify the price.
I wouldn't go under 128GB.
