Greg/Thane,
I tried that some months back. MS made me re-install what I
now have all over again! (many warm reboots too!)
The only plug I no longer have to use is dot-net v1.1.

Last night, MS auto-updates pushed 4 new security patches for
dot-net 4.0. Fine. But, now I view 3 more 'optional' patches.
I have the KB #'s, but have not read the skiny yet. I do suspect
that I may need to install this additional 55.3MB.
Thank you.
Duncan

Yes, but to what end? He's already got everything prior to 4.

Allow me to further confuse things for you.

.NET 3.0, 3.5, and 3.5.1 simply extend .NET 2.0. They still use the
.NET 2.0 CLR (Common Language Runtime - what actually executes programs
written in .NET languages), which in turn is just extended by the later
releases in terms of additional features and functionality.
Couldn't he uninstall everything and then install 3.5 and 4 and have
everything he needs?
