Actually, Weine is closer to Dewey. Elazar uses the numbering but in a totally different order. Weine just changes the 200s (religion) and a few others as needed (I don't have it with me and haven't seen the scheme in several years) Eleazar takes the decimal structure and completely rebuilds. Both systems have their pluses and minuses. Weine is closer to Dewey and for many easier to use. Elazar has an increasing chronology to it, that is, it starts with the beginnings of Judasim and goes forward with higher numbers. I have spoken with some librarians who find it difficult to use but many browsers like it. You need to take a close look at both and see what will suit you best. And if you want a union list with the same classification system, you should all meet to discuss the pros and cons of each system. No one system is perfect for all needs. You have to see what fits the most important ones for you.
