Thanks, June, for clarifying this point. As I said, I would be more than happy to receive any donation of old children's books. I would add them to our growing collection set off thanks to the Zipperstein Collection donated to Arizona State University couple of years ago. We have children's books in this collection dated from the early 20th century to the 1970s, and I hope that some day it will become invaluable as a historical collection. Some of the items are on exhibit right now at the library - to see a short video about it go to www.asu.edu/lib (under NEWS, click "exhibit highlights...").
In Israel, Children's literature is studies in Merkaz Yemimah (named after celebrated children's author Yemimah Tchenovitz-Avidar) in Beit Berl College. The private collection and archives of the late children's literature scholar Uriel Offek (compiler of Offek Lexicon to Hebrew Children's Literature) are kept there, with hundreds of rare gems. http://local.beitberl.ac.il/ Rachel Leket-Mor Jewish Studies Bibliographer Collection Development Division Arizona State University Libraries Tempe, AZ 85287-1006 Phone: (480) 965-2618 Fax: (480) 965-9127 Messages and opinions expressed on Hasafran are those of the individual author and are not necessarily endorsed by the AJL =========================================================== Submissions for Ha-Safran, send to: Hasafran @ lists.acs.ohio-state.edu SUBscribing, SIGNOFF commands send to: Listproc @ lists.acs.ohio-state.edu Questions, problems, complaints, compliments;-) send to: galron.1 @ osu.edu Ha-Safran Archives: Current: http://www.mail-archive.com/hasafran%40lists.acs.ohio-state.edu/maillist.html History: http://www.mail-archive.com/hasafran%40lists.acs.ohio-state.edu/history.html AJL HomePage http://www.JewishLibraries.org
