Dog of Knots is an excellent choice but is sometimes difficult to
obtain, as well.
Jeremiah's Promise: An Adventure in Modern Israel - Ken Roseman - URJ
Press 0807407879 is great for 4th/5th graders. It's one of the
"choose your own adventure" series from URJ so it lends itself to a
great discussion. URJ has discussion guides, too.
A few others that come to mind that would be OK since it's a
parent/child reading group (if read without parental interaction,
these are too old for that grade level):
Real Time - Pnina Moed Kass - Houghton Mifflin 9780618691746
Tasting the Sky: A Palestinian Childhood - Ibtisam Barakat - Farrar,
Straus, Giroux 9780374357337
Three Wishes: Palestinian and Israeli Children Speak - Deborah Ellis
- Groundwood Books 9780888996459
Stone in My Hand - Cathryn Clinton - Candlewick Press 9780763625610
