If the library is open on Sunday, you might have a chance. However in an
area where most people spend Sunday in Church rather than the library,
your case is weaker since they would have to hire someone else to cover
for you on Saturday - which makes it a de minimis hardship. Your case is
better in Brooklyn where the presences of many Sabbath observing users
makes it less of a hardship to have a Sabbath observing librarian, and
makes it seem more like discrimination. If they are open Sunday (in a
system in which everyone works Saturday), they could, according to the
EEOC, be expected to ask if anyone wants to trade days - but in many parts
of the country that won't be an option.

Especially if they are open Sundays and evenings, see if they have part
timers, or if they have any jobs that don't require Saturdays. Ask about
technical service jobs. Target libraries that are open on Sunday - but if
the library is routinely closed Sunday and open Saturday, and that
reflects the needs of their users, it would raise more than the "de
minimis" hardship if they hired you for a public service position that is
routinely Mon-Sat.
