The Book Thief, by Marcus Zusak, is not a Holocaust novel per se, but it has
literary.

The Boy in the Striped Pajamas, by John Boyne, has been criticized severely for
its naïve portrayal of Auschwitz.

The Morris Gleitzman series of Once, Then, Now is also written from a naïve
perspective.

My Mother's Secret, by J.L. Witterick, is based on a true story about hiding
people during the Holocaust, and is age appropriate.

I am reviewing (for the AJL Newsletter) a Cambridge University Press book
entitled Literature of the Holocaust, edited by Alan Rosen. It is a survey of
the literature as well as literary analysis and criticism.

Subject: [ha-Safran] Looking for holocaust literature and analysis

My high school seniors are doing a project which requires a holocaust work of
fiction (it should take place during WWII and/or be concerned with the
Holocaust in some way) accompanied by criticism or literary analysis of that
work. All I have in my library is Elie Weisel. Can anyone recommend a) fiction
suggestions which fit these criteria and b) a good source for holocaust
literary criticism? Any guidance or ideas would be appreciated.

  Thanks in advance!
