I have already emailed Clare to apologize for hurting her feelings. Her post used the term "occupation" in a way that assumed a universally acknowledged fact, although many of us feel strongly that the word "occupation," without taking any context into account, is often an anti-Israel propaganda tool bandied about by the media. That is why I was surprised that the moderator posted that comment. This is not the first time a hot button issue like this has come up, and I remember reading a post saying that everyone should stay away from politics, *so nobody feels offended*. In discussing the ALA resolution to divest, we were *working together *against a pointless and often anti-Semitic action. That is in the spirit of AJL and HaSafran, and I hope there is a positive outcome. Once again, I am sorry that my comment hurt or offended anyone.
