I, too, had never read the intro and didn't realize it was targeted for a Christian audience. I've had this book in my home library for many years and always loved sharing it with my grandchildren. The stories are well written and the illustrations are excellent. It would be interesting for someone who owns both versions to compare the writing and illustrations, since they have different authors and illustrators.
