I certainly defer to those with much more background than I, but from my reading, I thought marrano referred to those who practiced Judaism after converting. Here's the definition from dictionary.com: a Spanish or Portuguese Jew who was converted to Christianity during the late Middle Ages, usually under threat of death or persecution, especially one who continued to adhere to Judaism in secret. That would make them more like Crypto-Jews than Conversos. I thought that Crypto-Jew was the updated term for marrano. Just using "Christian converts from Judaism" may be more the converso part.
