We still carry many of these same periodicals, geared for a small conservative
synagogue in the midwest. People (yes, middle aged to older) do read them and
thus hang out in the library for them. However, I have almost never had a
request for older issues, so I've done away with my periodical archive for the
sake of space.
Our budget is small and we can't afford every magazine, so to make ends meet,
we have a few congregants who already subscribe to certain periodicals donate
each issue once read. Yes, the issues come a little late, but they do come
consistently -- and for free.  Rachel Haus Library Director Congregation of

{}#yiv9692880901 I still carry MOMENT, THE FORWARD, JEWISH REVIEW OF BOOKS,
REFORM JUDAISM, the local Jewish weekly, our synagogue newsletter and a few
other magazines -- not all titles come to mind right now. They are definitely a
“lure” into the library – I have them on a stand-up rack just inside the
entrance, visible through the front window – and I don’t foresee a time when we
won’t want these hard copies.  On Sunday mornings during religious school I
have a few scattered on tables where parents sit and have coffee and a bagel,
and I know they are read.  Links to the online versions are available, but I
know people – yes mostly middle-aged and older folks -- enjoy the
magazines.(Betsy, if you’d like me to send you the full list of which ones I
carry, just let me know.)  Amy TurimTemple EmanuelKensington,

Subject: [ha-Safran] Magazines and Newspapers?  Does anyone carry Jewish
magazines and newspapers in their libraries at this point?  Is there much
demand for them?  If so, which ones?   We’re a small congregational library
that hasn’t carried them for several years now.  We’re moving into a new
facility and reconsidering this.  A few members have suggested that it might be
nice to have a few “lying around,” but otherwise there isn’t much demand that I
can tell.    Any suggestions as to which ones to offer, or alternate electronic
resources to link to, would be most welcome!  Thanks –Betsy GephartCongregation
