This thread raises some interesting issues that haven't been noted. While lots of movies have been transferred to more current formats and streaming -- and there's an enormous amount of new material available -- there may be some that are not. And some smaller libraries may not have funding for streaming services. So while there are legitimate reasons to be current with our technology, there may also be reasons to keep at least a few "rare" dvd's.
