I wonder if you're not artificially restricting yourself by that desire. Haskell Platform seems a nice idea in theory, but in practice no one appears to use it. After all, who can restrict themselves to only packages in that ancient subset? It's like trying to do anything on Debian Stable. If hackage went away and Haskell Platform was "Haskell" with frequent releases then the world would be a better place. But that ain't about to happen, so HP becomes a curiosity perhaps of interest to technology historians when drawing up footnotes for a paper on failed software management ideas.
