Personally, I'd like to see some equivalent of the C system call
select(2) in GHC's socket library; I've put off learning GreenCard or
whatever FFI in favor of doing a couple of ports of GHC 4.04, though.
(Solaris 2.5.1/x86 and IRIX 6.5/MIPS, Solaris x86 mostly done, only
in need of getting configure --with-gas to do sensible things.)
