It's not only something not covered in Haskell 98, but the language
and the libraries itself (see chap. 9 in the Hugs manual). The module
system differs in some subtle ways, the IO module misses a lot of
functionality, etc. Alas, these things have advanced to such a point
that Hugs is of almost no use for me anymore, apart from testing small
functions, and reading the mailing lists I get the impression that I'm
not the only one. It would be really nice if the current Hugs would be
changed in such a way that it's really worthy of the "98" suffix
(+ FFI?).

I've got no idea when the "Great Merger" is finished, hence my
suggestion above. Note that I'm not flaming against Hugs, I was actually
a real fan of it, and I know that in academia you earn *nothing* for
implementing hSeek and friends, but on the other hand, it shouldn't be
*that* hard and time-consuming...
