Amen, brother! Many "improvement" facets of Perl are equivalent to painting over a peeling wallpaper. It kind of helps, for a while. As for Perl's "natural language design", *groan* It isn't close to my natural language, that's for certain (show me 15 cases of nouns, then it looks like "natural" to me). Perl has some words that are close to English, but that's about the limit of it. Let's not start comparing Perl (or most any programming language) with *real* natural languages.
