+1, with the following caveat:
I think not implementing readField and write is a problem, as MR users may read
a record in a map, filter out those they are not interested in, and then
immediately write it back out. Other than that patch looks good. I say we
check it in to unblock progress on other patches in this feature and I'll file
a separate issue to fix this.
