Having server-extensions as a separate jar sounds fine to me.
I tried it out and did a quick look at the poms.
Shouldn't all the modules have hcatalog-core as a dependency? Then the modules
don't need to pull in logging and core hive jars as a dependency? Also
"maven-ant-tasks" snuck in as a dependency.
