I would like to evaluate the possibility of using Ubuntu instead of
Debian on some of our servers. It is often more up-to-date than
Debian, and has more frequent stable releases. Hopefully the
advantages of this are obvious -- newer versions of software that we
use, and a more stable upgrade path for said software when compared to
our current Debian testing setup. I've used Ubuntu interchangeably
with Debian at my LUG's servers, and it works quite well as a server
OS.

One part of that evaluation is to see how resistant people are to the
suggested change of operating systems. I would not mind it too much
if we went for Debian instead, but in that case I would almost
certainly need to manually backport (that is, make custom Debian
packages for) new versions of critical software (MoinMoin, Apache,
etc.). I would also suggest if we use Debian, that we stick with only
stable releases, given the trouble that the testing version gave us
recently.

That said, I would like to help maintain our MoinMoin installation and
keep it up-to-date. I'm also willing to create custom Debian packages
for any software that needs updates which aren't in our version of
Debian. I'm open to other tasks as well, once we further define our
responsibilities.

Sounds good for now.
