Errors come from /usr/local/rams60/src/utils/2.4/lib/hdf5_utils.f90
Please find hdf5_utils.f90 code at

It is a part of the RAMS meteorological model. Trying to build fdgrib2
utility to read RAMS output in hdf5 format. You can find functions
defined in this code. I don't know much about this code, just downloaded
time ago.

No. HDF5 can depend on system libs but surely not reverse.
I think you are missing some other libs or using different
library call convention
The error is : undefined reference to `fh5f_open_'
but the function should be 'h5f_open'

so from where the trailing "f" is coming for ?
