Arpit Agarwal commented on HDFS-9817:
-------------------------------------

Hi [~jojochuang], this was just for fixing new classes added as part of the
disk balancer feature in the HDFS-1312 branch. If you want to start a
hadoop-wide effort that can be tracked separately.

bq. Also, I have been thinking whether we should enforce people to use SLF4J
(or say, reject patches that import commons-httpclient which is EOL) via Yetus
precommit.
Good question, perhaps better to discuss this on the common-dev@ mailing list.
I don't have an opinion. IIRC log4j2 uses an incompatible configuration format
so we are unlikely to be rid of log4j any time soon.

> We are trying to use SLF4J for new classes as far as possible so let's change
> all the newly added classes to use SLF4J instead of depending on Log4J.
