Bharath Mundlapudi commented on HDFS-1863:
------------------------------------------
Please refer to Disk Fail Inplace Jira. Specifically DN related one.
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HADOOP-7125.
I am not sure if you are running into this?
https://issues.apache.org/jira/browse/HDFS-1692
Did you set volumes tolerated? Check if this patch is part of 20.1. Once you
set this option, DN will exit if you cross this threshold.
> When all data directory volumes pulled out in DataNode, Its better to
> shutdown.

> Project: Hadoop HDFS
> Issue Type: Bug
> Components: data-node
> Affects Versions: 0.20.1
> Reporter: Brahma
> Priority: Minor
>
> When we pulled out all the data directory volumes in DataNode,
> it is not shuttingdown. Because of this NameNode is keep selecting this DN
> also for write.
> But datanode is saying 'No available volumes' and throwing exception.
> Instead of this, we can shutdown the DataNode.
