[~ajayydv] resorting to default might be another option.
However, in our original use case, the problem was using the same
{{hdfs-site.xml}} for a version of Hadoop that supported {{PROVIDED}} and
another without it.
With the current behavior the Datanode doesn't start at all.
With your approach, I'm not sure what would try to do with the {{PROVIDED}}
file path if it assumes {{DEFAULT}}.
For our use case, I'd prefer to log and ignore.
