Thanks the detailed answer [~arpitagarwal] and [~bharatviswa]. I think we have
the same view, just it's hard to compare which type of inaccuracy is better.
It's more like a personal taste or preference.
Personally I would prefer an inaccuracy which could be exact some times (after
compaction) but not totally wrong (which could be possible after very serious
unclean shutdown). But I am totally fine to go with the proposed solution.
It's also hard to estimate the probability of the unclean shutdowns... If it's
very rare, than the proposed approach is better (most of the time)
