It's great to see this work get merged to trunk.
bq. Initial patch for backporting snapshot to branch-2. Will run all the
unit/system tests and post the results later.
What are your thoughts on the timeline for this? I've been assuming that we'd
wait at least a few weeks for the snapshots work to soak in trunk a bit before
back-porting to branch-2 as we've done in the past with other large features
like this.
