Wow, thank you all for sharing your thoughts and concerns, it's really useful for us to hear. I'm sorry we've been a bit slow to respond to emails in recent days, let me try to give you some updates and answer some questions.
While it may not be apparent from activity on this list, we have been growing pretty substantially. We are now up to 9,000 developers, and over 10,000 apps have been built. More importantly than the growth in total developers, is that the actual usage has been increasing dramatically - more serious development work, more apps being built, more developers really putting Heroku to the test - trying demanding things, testing every nook and cranny. This is really great, and we can't thank all of you, our beta users, enough for the value you are providing by using the system at this stage. The "beta" label has been abused lately, with Gmail and Flickr leaving it on their apps for years - that's not how we mean beta. What we mean, is that we are actively changing things around in underlying layers to adapt to the usage patterns we are seeing and the edge cases users are discovering. We have made many significant changes and improvements lately, and some users have experienced reliability issues while those changes were being made, particularly the last week or so. On the plus side, we can say with certainty that the platform is more and more robust every day, and out of 9,000+ users, only a handful have been impacted by our remodeling. For those of you who were affected, we sincerely apologize. All of our efforts are going into assuring a stable platform. We have a really large vision for Heroku moving forward, and have only just begun to implement it - we have many many exciting things in store for you. Before we get to them though, we have to get a few things right in the foundation of the platform, and that's what we've been focussed on. That's also what you've all been so vitally helping us with. Thanks again to everyone who has used Heroku, sent us feedback, or commented here - you are the driving force behind Heroku. We are now expanding the Heroku team, and working on a bunch of things we can't wait to tell you about, so we hope you'll all stay tuned... As always, please feel free to post to this list or email us privately. While sometimes we can't respond immediately, we read and value every single email. - James On Apr 10, 2008, at 8:32 PM, stephan wrote: > > It's been working for me. > Stephan > > On Apr 10, 6:05 am, Ed Jones <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> wrote: >> Started to add this to the Google apps thread, but decided to raise >> it. >> >> Is Heroku Going to Work? >> >> Trying to stay positive, yet right now, we're seeing multi-hour >> outages closer to daily than to weekly.
