I have carried the panels on top of my mini-van as well as a full-size
van, sandwiched between plywood sheets. It works very well either way.
This year will be the third year I set up a HY at Burning Man.

Strapping tape or bi-filament tape will deteriorate in sunlight,
although not enough to cause structural problems during only one Burning
Man event. You won't want to remove (the worst part) and reapply the
tape every other year. I tape my edges with aluminum tape.

Note: a heat gun is the best way to remove bi-filament tape after the
event!
