The short answer is Moop from the very fragile foam edges.

In my taping, I won't be pre-taping the edges that will become hinges, as
they will be taped by default when the beast is put together.

The top 6" tape will fill the notch, covering the exposed foam.  The bottom
tape could be 4", although the 6" gives a full three inches of tape/fiber on
the foil.  Since the sheets do crack somewhat easily, I suppose it's saner
to just have 6" all the way around.

Here's a wondering, though...  Has anyone tried using a elastomer roofing
paint to seal the edges with?
