We placed it in front like a ramp. The piece was about 4' x 3'. We drilled some holes along one 3' edge and secured it to the front rail of the roof-rack with heavy-duty zipties. We then looped a ratchet strap over the front of the ramp and just strapped it to the other other straps going across the package. The hope was that this would guide the air over the top, much like what might on top of some big tractor-trailer truck to guide the wind over the trailer.
