The top entrance is 8ft wide into a 12 deep covered pit. 6' of the pit is dug out, the timbers will rest on unexcavated soil and give another 6 feet in height. Beyound the hexahole in the ceiling with fire pit below, I'm thinking around 10' of sheltered space with 4' of that being a shored up sleeping bench, kind of like this.
