Essentially this idea for the dug out, shored up benches around the sides. 
Benches wide enough to sleep at least two on each section. Maybe have one 
section dedicated as a kitchen area with higher food prep surface and 
possibly a window to catch the morning sun. A gable over one side, to be 
used as a second entrance incase a bear decides to camp out by the other. 
Maybe just turn roof hole into an alternative exit and rig up a cap for the 
hole for when fire isn't in use. 

I like the hexagon because it's not a square and not a circle, you get to 
extra walls to work with that aren't curved and it seems that shorter 
pieces of material can be used. Not a big deal with conventional 
dimensional lumber or sheets, but with logs, it's and easing thought to 
have this option rather than hauling into place even larger logs..
