Hi,
last yr, I started a small community group called Cabinz in Chester Uk
(details www.cabinz.net ) supplying reusable insulation & building
materials at low cost & making prototype insulated panels for outbuildings
& retro-fit.

We've been working with a large composite door manufacturer for over a year
to re-use their off cuts (see pic2 - glass is green house panel +1m rule) ,
of which 10 tonnes are land filled weekly . We've reused approx. 30 tonnes,
but its been tough.

I'm thinking of making a small hexayurt from these panels, using drywall
lining steel frames & grp or steel sheet covering. We have experimented
with drywall lining steel / grp / upvc core beams ( see Pic 1 &
http://www.instructables.com/id/Clad-Composite-Beam-From-Waste/

I wondered if a grp skinned panel had been tried beforeand also if internal
frames have been used to make hexayurts stronger.

Two final questions, I noticed from this post that rats/ mice / birds can
sometmes attack rigid foam.

Is there evidence ofthis happening to hexayurts ?

I thought a metal skin could prevent this.

A large supplier of slight seconds metal sided sandwich kingspan panels
supports our project & we could make a hexa yurt prototype at low cost.
Has one been made before ?
