Hello all!

Very, very sad news from Scandinavia: The workshop of famous swedish instrument-maker Leif Eriksson has been destroyed in a fire. The groddalira-hurdy-gurdy, moraharpa and swedish bagpipe -he was the one who revived those all. Leif has lost the center of his life-long work: special tools, moulds, drawings, unfinished intruments and also those that were left to him to be repaired etc.

Here you can see a picture and read the story: http:// www.falukuriren.se/artikel.asp?id=1597876#

In the story Leif says that not a knife was saved. Something in the electricity system might have caused the fire. Leif and his neighbour tried to tame the flames as much as they could before the firemen came with garden hose and other equipment at hand. Other parts of the house were savd, only the music-instrument workshop was destroyed (Leif does other types of special carpentry too)

I've always been grateful to him when I play the Groddalira, my first hurdy-gurdy. Now it's time to do something. Anyone willing to join? Swedish network of bagpiers is going to arrange a fund-raising to help Leif, maybe all of us could join this somehow? This guy is organizing the fund-raising: [EMAIL PROTECTED] or [EMAIL PROTECTED] I can be in contact with him and ask what could be done internationally.

Think, how would you feel if this catastrophy would happen to you - all your dear and valuable instruments or workshop destroyed just like that!

Yours
