Not sure how far a hike it is to get to the Boston area, Sasha, but if it's not too far, give me a holler. I've had luck in the past with "initiating" beginners into the mysteries of cotton and rosin...

Subject: [HG] new hurdy gurdy player / players nearby?

Hi All,

I'm a composer, vocalist and multi-instrumentalist who has recently fallen for the hurdy gurdy. I'm in central Connecticut, USA and I was wondering if anyone knew of any hurdy gurdy players in my state, Connecticut, or in Massachusetts, New York or Vermont that I could take a few lessons from.

I recently acquired a hurdy gurdy from Helmut Gotschy and it sounded great and I was doing fine with it, until I tried recottoning. I have the Muskett & Destrem books and a bunch of other website info but still having problems with getting the cotton right and sounding as good as it did before I attempted this. I think I need to see someone do it. Please help.

Thanks so much,

Sasha Bogdanowitsch
