Greetings all,
I am trying to arrange a Northeast Hurdy-gurdy workshop and things are
starting to take shape. R.T.Taylor, an excellent gurdy teacher (if you don't
already know) has contacted me and would like to come to the Northeast on the
weekend of June 23rd.
The workshop would be held in my house in Chelmsford MA (about 40 minutes
Northwest of Boston - exit 32 off 495) Meals would be served there as well.
Lodging for workshop participants would be in the local hotels which are about
$100 a night (some a little less, some more - some a lot more). I can send out
more specifics on lodging info later. If everyone wants to stay in the same
place, I'll work on getting a gorup discount.
My house is an 1800 brick colonial - it's a pretty cool place for a workshop
and I think we will have enough space there. House has 2 cats and 2 dogs but
it's fairly allergen free - we have wood floors and my husband is a neat freak
so it's pretty well vacuumed. It's also smoke free.

Here's what I'm figuring:
Price of workshop: $125
This includes meals 3 for Saturday and breakfast and lunch on Sunday and
instruction by R.T. Friday night, Saturday and Sunday (till afternoon). It's
going to be an intensive hands-on training.
You will need a working gurdy for this workshop. There's no expertise level
required. He said he'll tailor the workshop to the needs of the students and
feels confident that he can get absolute beginners up and cranking very soon.

We need 6 people to make this work and we need committments fairly soon. The
reason is that I am going to fly R.T. here with some frequent flyer miles that
my husband has amassed but these tickets go fairly quickly. If we were to pay
for his ticket, it would add another $50-$100 to the cost per person.

So that's the scoop - please email me if you are interested and also indicate
your level of play and whether you play a D-G or C-G instrument. Also feel
free to forward this to anyone you think would be interested in attending.

Hope to see you all in June!
 - Jocelyn
