As I mentioned in my last (I mean previous; don't get your hopes up!) message, I've started considering the acquisition of a proper, pro-built HG. [...]; as a matter of prudence, I'd like to run some of them by the List members, to see what you think. You may have your particular preferences......

A very nice sounding standard instrument for a good price is the "Allegro" from Wolfgang Weichselbaumer (http://www.weichselbaumer.cc). Some of my students play it (the two chanter version for 2140 Euro) and some musican colleagues (mostely the three chanter version for 3240 Euro). Its a relatively new modell and seems to combine the extraordinary soundquality of Weichselbaumers instruments with simplicity in usage and a really good price.
For many players this might be the lifetime instrument.
