Hello,
My name is TerryLee, and have recently discovered the hurdy gurdy via a
Lorenna McKennitt concert in Seattle.  I've been corresponding with Alden of
OMI, and plan to visit them this summer to see where my fascination takes
me.........and trying to finagle (sp?) time off for the OTW Festival in
September.  We'll see what happens.

I am an R.N., working in a Everett, north of Seattle, and am wondering if there
are any other hurdy gurdy players up this way???

Any recommendations on types of hurdy gurdy's for a beginner like me?  Due to
proximity and OMI's excellent website, I am currently debating between the
Orca, Chinook, and the Volksgurdy models, although I think the latter might be
a bit beyond me in ability (so many options!).

BTW, I found a copy of Susann Palmer's The Hurdy Gurdy at my local library!
And am bidding on a copy of Destrem & Heidemann's book on ebay.  My husband
thinks I am nuts.  It's not like I have enough to do with 3 kids and full-time
work, to be so engaged by an obscure and beautiful instrument, yet

Here I am,
TerryLee  :o)
