Hello All;

An interesting thing to report. I recently attended an art exhibit about Monet's earlier, less well known work:

<http://www.clarkart.edu/exhibitions/monet/content/home.cfm>

One of the caricatures that he did (the paying job he had before he became famous) is this one:

After Nadar (Félix Tournachon)
Caricature of Adolphe Dennery, c. 1858
Graphite on buff paper, 320 x 240 mm
Musée Marmottan Monet, Paris

Which, according to the signage shows Dennery playing a mandolin...not unless a mandolin has a crank on the end, has a keybox with keys, and has a wheel cover; Mr. Dennery is pretty clearly playing a vielle à roue (is that the correct French term for hurdy?).

Which I found quite interesting. I was planning on writing them and letting them know.

Thought y'all might find it of some interest.

Tom Frank
