I've gotten a resonse from a couple of Hurdy Gurdy makers and what I'm told is this kind of thing has happened with just about every maker's instruments, German, French, etc at one time or another. It's very, very uncommon but can happen with any HG from any maker... Seth

If you have seen one of these they have an inset section on the end of the key box that holds the Pegs and its glued down do the top edges of the end of the key box.... Its coming apart on one side but not straight off, Its bending upward away from the wood on each end making a upward bow shape. The only part that is still glued to the wood is the middle of the side in question.. Is this a common problem with these instruments "HG's"????? I noticed that this part is some sort of synthetic material and not wood so that may explain the bending... Weird thing is it has never been in the heat and It stays between 70 and 74 in my house... Anybody else have similar experiences with these types of problems??? I expect this happens but didn't expect it with a new instrument.... Cheers, Seth
