Yes, around 3kb is what I am getting on dial-up - and that's normal for me (never more than 5). We do tend to forget that not all countries have broadband facilities throughout the country nor broadband enabled exchanges and the whole point of the "web" aspect is that you pass through several servers depending where you are. If one of them is either slow or not fitted for broadband lines..well, slow speeds. I'm getting 7 - 8 hours which will be fine overnight. Grit teeth and hope it's worth it. I'm used to it (spent 4 days continual downloading once just to get one friend's holiday video of Disneyland - and not a HG in sight!).
