Well that's news. Learn something new everyday. I just thought it was part of the theme,,,knights and pawns,,,chess,,,Middle Ages. Interesting.
That gurdy looks exactly like mine, except mine is darker stained,,perhaps a different wood, or not, and mine is fixed for 4 strings, e. g., 2 chanters, rather than the middle situated one pulling the tailpiece. If I want to use 1 chanter, I still need to keep tension on the other,,,just lifting it to its holder, to maintain an equal pull on the tailpiece.
